Interview
Condition: Nystagmus, astigmatism, myopia, and posterior vitreous detachment
1. What is your profession and why did you decide to choose this field?
I have worked in publishing for many years and still do some freelance editorial work. In recent years I decided that I would pursue art as a secondary career. I have always loved to paint and to express emotions, and the way that I see the world, through art.
2. What is the most rewarding thing about what you do?
Being able to spend time doing what I love, and creating artwork that gives other people pleasure.
3. What is your advice to all the other VIP around the world who don't believe they can be successful in the area of their interest because of their disability?
Everybody is different, but we shouldn't let our differences stop us from pursuing our interests. People with visual impairments often show great ingenuity in finding ways to do the things that other people might find easy to do. We can use this ingenuity to achieve success.
